CAREY OLSEN: Carey Olsen lawyers sworn in as Guernsey Advocates

Press Release from Carey Olsen, Friday 19 September, 2025.

Carey Olsen senior associate Kieran Ogilvie and associate Theo Hannah have been admitted as Advocates of the Royal Courts of Guernsey.

Kieran and Theo were called to the Guernsey Bar at a swearing in ceremony on 8 September 2025, having successfully completed the Guernsey Bar exams earlier this year and the Certificat d’Études Juridiques Françaises et Normandes at the University of Caen last year.

Kieran is a part of Carey Olsen’s commercial property team in Guernsey. With extensive experience on a wide range of commercial property matters, he specialises in commercial leasing, property development, property finance, property investment and the property aspects of corporate transactions. He qualified as a solicitor in Scotland in 2014 and, having previously worked with Shoosmiths, joined Carey Olsen in Guernsey in 2019 to continue his commercial property practice. He is ranked as an ‘Associate to Watch’ in Chambers and Partners and as a ‘Leading Associate’ in Legal 500.

Based in the firm’s trusts and private wealth team, Theo specialises in contentious and non-contentious trust, private client and succession law matters. He works on matters concerning Guernsey trust, foundation and pension law, and advises high-net-worth individuals on the use of trust, foundation and private trust company structures for asset protection and succession planning purposes. Theo is a solicitor of England and Wales, a member of the Guernsey International Legal Association, and an elected member of STEP Guernsey’s Next Gen Committee. He is also a company secretary to local charity Grow Limited and serves as member of the Independent Prison Monitoring Panel.

Carey Olsen Guernsey managing partner, Tom Carey, said: “It is fantastic to see yet another two members of our Guernsey team sworn in as Guernsey Advocates. To pass the Guernsey Bar exams is no small feat, and a reflection of Kieran and Theo’s talent, hard work and expertise in their respective practice areas. Congratulations, both.”
