CRYPTO: Crypto Pioneer Roger Ver (Bitcoin Jesus) Faces $48M Tax Showdown with the IRS

Roger Ver, famously known as “Bitcoin Jesus,” is locked in a $48 million tax dispute with the IRS. The accusations stem from alleged tax evasion after Ver renounced his U.S. citizenship. In December 2024, his legal team requested the dismissal of the charges, arguing that unclear tax rules and improper prosecution were at play. The court is set to review the case in February 2025.

This high-stakes battle sheds light on the growing challenges of crypto taxation. With tighter international tax rules and advanced blockchain tracking, offshore tax evasion is increasingly difficult, raising concerns for crypto investors worldwide.
